Well, another Christmas has come and gone! I hope that you had a great holiday season this year. We spent lots of time with family this week and had plenty of down time, so we are enjoying our season.
Of course there are gifts for the humans this time of year, but I knew I couldn't leave out my feathered friends. I mixed up a special present just for them and judging by their reaction, I think it was a big hit.
Somewhere in that pile of feathers you may see they are feasting on some goodies. I gathered leftover corn, black beans, and scallions as a Christmas treat and they clearly enjoyed it. They really love beans, so I knew this would be a nice treat for them.
As usual, the food was gone in a flash. It always amazes me how fast several chickens can clean a plate! I love giving them special treats every once in a while and it's so fun to watch them go crazy over the food. Chicken TV is always entertaining.

I made our chickens a garland with cranberries, brussel sprouts and pear chunks. The brussel sprouts lasted the longest--which actually surprised me! They spent the day pecking at it...and I spent the day watching them enjoy it. :)

ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the different colored feathers gathered together! They do look quite happy and content and very healthy. My pets were sequestered in safe and quiet areas due to all the commotion, but afterwards we gave them a nice plate of leftovers, which they inhaled. :) Enjoy your weekend, Tammy! xo

ReplyDeleteha ha - too cute. :) My mother gave Jack a play mouse that makes noise and he LOVES to bat it around in the middle of the night. Fingers crossed he goes back to sleeping at night instead of playing.

ReplyDeleteI have felt like a bad chicken mommy lately since we don't have much time to devote to our flock, but I did try giving them some mealworms on Christmas. Not their favorite treat! Haha

Our critters always get a special treat depending on who it is, goat cookies, extra veggies for the rabbits, the chickens this year had butternut squash, and some other goodies... the big dogs get extra big bones :) Everyone gets something. It's half the fun of Christmas :)

ReplyDeleteIt looks like they really loved their Christmas dinner! I gave my rabbit extra hay to burrow in, a baby carrot and although it's not food per say, she got new cotton 'blankie' to chew on because she loves to chew. ;-)
